On May 31st I wrapped up my visit to the USA confreres; an opportunity for strengthening our communion, assessing our mission projects, sharing our vision for the future and celebrating our common vocation as children of a Saint. I return to Manila with a grateful heart for all that is being done by the confreres in every community. We are also convinced of the need of mutual support in facing the demanding challenges of the ministry in this nation that offers many opportunities but is also in need of courageous and creative new evangelization. The General Assembly of the Servants of Charity in the US stressed the common concern and commitment for spreading the Charism among the youth in order to promote and facilitate local vocations. We are venturing into new forms of ministry like the pastoral care for the migrants in Chester, PA while facilitating programs and services for persons with disabilities. The Chelsea community recently welcomed Fr. Ronald Jesaia who comes to enrich our ministry in the Diocese of Lansing as servants of God’s love among the poor. On September 29, 2012 Fr. Peter di Tullio will celebrate his 25th anniversary as pastor of Sacred Heart Church, in East Providence, RI before turning over that ministry to Fr. Silvio. To all the confreres and their cooperators in the various mission projects my fraternal wishes and prayer.
