Quezon City – The Guanella Center Special Children joined in the celebration of National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week. On July 19th and 20th, the special children and their guardians participated in the Special Olympics; events included relay running, a hotdog eating contest, egg catching, malikhaing pagguhit (poster making contest), sack race, caterpillar and a marathon. The children were divided into three teams working together to prove that, despite their disabilities, they were capable of completing their tasks and were valuable to their team’s effort. Through Special Olympics, the special children developed their talents, skills, capabilities and expressed themselves to a friendly Community. They truly enjoyed the games.
