Bangalore – After the first anniversary of the Canonization of our Founder, the Guanella Preethi Nivas community celebrated a joyful occasion for our mission, World Special People’s Day, on November 3rd. It was a grand celebration prepared by our lay co-operators and benefactors. It was beautiful to see the campus filled with good children and differently-abled people from many institutions, the heroes of the day. Most Rev. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore, presided over Holy Mass. After the Eucharistic celebration, the cultural programs by the good children were presented on stage. In order to raise awareness about differently-abled people, Mrs. Catherine from the APD Institute, Bangalore, gave a talk on managing behaviors of the disabled. St. Guanella said, “Give bread and the Lord,” so the lay co-operators prepared and served a meal for the celebration. A small gift was offered to each ‘special person.’
Through the providence of God this function came into fruition. Contributions of the lay co-operators, benefactors, and volunteers from different parishes made this celebration a successful one. They came forward in taking care of many details; collecting the donation books, decorating the House with rangoli, animating the cultural program, and serving food to the special people. Without their generosity, this event would not have been possible.
