Saigon – These days, in many places, the elderly people are not well respected. But in Vietnam, the Duc Lan parish has a tradition that during the New Year holidays, they invite all the elderly, including non-Catholics, to participate in the Holy Mass. This mass is particularly offered for them as a thanksgiving for their service to their people and to their parish. During the mass these elderly people are honored by the native priests and by their own family members. It is good model for all. The spirit of Fr. Guanella was alive in that parish. It was good to be with them.
