Indian Children sing for the crowd at Annual DayChennai – The Don Guanella Major Seminary was filled with the smiling angels of the Evening School and their parents on April 14th. As they arrived that evening, the confreres welcomed them. The chief guests Rev. Fr. A. Soosai Rathinam, SdC, Provincial Superior, and Rev. Fr. A. Adaikalam, SdC, Vice-Rector of DGMS, processed to the stage opening the ceremony. Lamps were lit, prayers sung and the chief guests were honored with shawls. Cultural programs were performed and the DGES annual report of the 2012-2013 year was read. The children were awarded gifts and prizes for participating in various competitions; learning to save money: those children with the biggest savings; for learning morality and goodness: the most disciplined children. They also received notebooks for the next academic year. Three staff members were honored with gifts for their untiring work with the poor children throughout the year. The children were addressed by the chief guests, inspired to foster their education, fear of God and discipline. Everyone enjoyed tea and snacks, a hymn to St. Guanella was sung and the celebration came to an end.
