Indian confreres of the Servants of CharityChennai – The Annual Assembly for the Indian confreres of the Divine Providence Province was held at Don Guanella Major Seminary December 27-28th with the theme, “Towards a Bold and Joyful Evangelization.” Forty-one confreres of the 43 working in India attended. Rev. Fr. Soosai Rathinam SdC, the Provincial, Rev. Fr. Jeyabalan SDB, Salesian Provincial for Chennai Province, Rev. Fr. Visuwasm SdC and Rev. Fr. Kulandai Samy SdC, Provincial Councilors of the Divine Providence Province, were the speakers.

To begin the assembly, Fr. Soosai presented his Paper on the “Provincial Leadership and Suggestions for Emerging Needs form One Year,” presenting the current situations, growth the Province has attained and its future ventures. Next Fr. Jeyabalan presented on the theme: “Reaching out to the Unreached.” His presentation was an eye opener and led many to recharge themselves with new vigor and enthusiasm to respond radically to their religious vocation. He said, “A genuine response to the radical call requires: change of mentality and change of structures.”

On day two, Fr. Visuwasm, the link economer for India, presented “The Financial Thoughts and Communal Commitment in Joining Hands with GLM as Sharers in our Charism and Mission.” He presented a clear financial status of all Guanellian Missions in India and requested all attendees to work to increase our local income through innovative projects and initiatives. “Evangelizing Mission of the Guanellians and its Deeper Mission Sensitivity,” was the title of Fr. Kulandai Samy’s presentation.

The participants felt that the assembly was successful in gathering the confreres together, bringing enthusiasm and vigor to Evangelize India with the Guanellian Mission and Charism. Many good suggestions and proposals  blossomed through various fruitful group discussions. Let us hope for bold initiatives and joyful Evangelization.
