Chennai – In preparation for the election of delegates from the Divine Providence Province who will participate in the 7th General Council in Rome, the confreres of Don Guanella Major Seminary organized a Spiritual Evening at Our Lady of Glory, Pulicat, on July 14th. The ambience of the Shrine ignited a glowing flame of divine presence in everyone’s heart; and the gentle breeze of Pulicat Sea was reminiscent of the Apostles with Jesus at the Sea of Galilee. Fr. Samson, Superior and Rector of DGMS, opened the gathering and the program was headed by Fr. Soosai Rathinam, the Provincial Superior. The day included recollection with spiritual talks and adoration followed by the election. During recollection, Fr. Soosai shared the richness of “Divine Paternal Mercy” for Guanellians in light of “The Face of Mercy” (Misericordes Vultus) the recent outcome of the papal bull by Pope Francis. In his talk, he enumerated the elements of mercy by Saint Guanella from the Ocean of Love, Mercy and Compassion that is the Holy Trinity. He admonished everyone to imitate our Founder to personify the paternal love of the Father, the fraternal friendship of Jesus and the spiritual accompaniment of the Paraclete. He called everyone to be open to the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, and to witness that we are Christians of love, peace, justice and mercy. Next, there was an hour of silent adoration, which prepared the confreres spiritually for the election. Finally with gratitude to the Providence of God, and accompaniment of Mother Mary and our Founder, Rev. Fr. Samson thanked Fr. Provincial and the community for their honored presence and cooperation.
