Chennai – Hard work yields good fruit; which is also true in the matter of nations. Today India enjoys freedom because of the sacrifice and hard work of some of its great men and women. The children of Don Guanella Evening School, celebrated Independence Day on August 15th To mark the importance of the day and the sacrifice of those great people of India, Mr. Arul Dasan, the retired head master who was known for his kind heart in the Poonamallee Division, was invited as the chief guest. There were also seventy-five school children, parents and teachers present for the event. The program unfolded with the cultural and traditional songs and Independence Day speeches. Mr. Arul Dasan gave a beautiful speech in which he mentioned that freedom is to stand on one’s own; and it is possible only through a good education. The children sang the national anthem, paying homage to India as Mr. Arul Dasan hoisted the national flag. Towards the end of the program he mentioned that it is each person’s responsibility as Indians to educate themselves and become good citizens of their country. The program concluded with the distribution of sweets.
