Cuddalore – On March 22nd, to conclude the academic year, Annual Day was celebrated with the Evening School Children in the auditorium of St. Joseph’s Seminary. The celebration began with the welcome address given by the rector of the seminary, Fr. Assisi. Fr. Amal Raj, vice-rector of the seminary, was also present and Sr. Maria, Principal of St. Mary’s Mat. High Secondary School was the chief guest. In her speech, Sr. Maria spoke about the Evening School as a great opportunity for the children as well as for their families. She invited the children to make good use of it for a better future. One of the parents shared her feelings and her gratitude to the Institute and to St. Guanella for the precious service given to their children. Fr. Assisi distributed prizes for various the competitions: regular attendance, best student, best attitude. After the vote of thanks given by Fr. Arockia Raj, Annual Day concluded by sharing a delicious meal. The children were very happy. They made the celebration much more joyful with their cultural programs.
Cuddalore – Don Guanella Boys Home celebrated Annual Day on February 19th with a joy filled ambience. The campus was filled with the parents of the students, alumni, sponsors, benefactors and special dignitaries. The entire Guanellian Religious community made the day very significant and memorable. The students were honored for their skill and achievements in all the dimensions of their growth. The dignitaries of the day inspired the students with their messages focused on ‘Character and Intelligence’. The event also included cultural performances, skill performance program, prize distribution and a fraternal meal. Charity never fails until there is a heart to love and to be loved. Let us make the Guanellian Family a shelter of love.
Vatluru – The Vatluru Tuition Center held its Annual Day function on March 22nd at Guanella Karunalaya. The event began with a prayer dance by little children. Priests from the house were invited as chief guests and the boys of Karunalaya also participated. Children performed very well. School bags and exam pads were provided as annual gifts to them. Mrs. Shantha Kumari, the teacher, had prepared the children for the program.
Chennai – On April 7th the D.G.S.S. family celebrated Annual Day. The chief guests were Fr. Soosai Rathinam and Mr. Inigo Irudayaraj, Chairmen of Christian Goodwill Commission. The students exhibited their talents in various aspects; singing, dancing, telling rhymes, and acting social message through mime. The parents’ participation also added a color to the program. Imran, a good child, listed 50 common facts correctly. All were amazed at his ability. To end the program, dinner was provided to all the invitees.
Yesuvanam – On April 7th St. Guanella Anbagam Special School held their 1st Annual Day event. That evening the celebration began with Holy Mass by Rev. Fr. Antony Joseph, SDB, (Rector of Bosco Maiyam); other local parish priests con-celebrated the Mass. A cultural program followed Mass, with a welcome by Fr. Paul Raj, Director of St. Guanella Anbagam Special School the gathering. Mr. Karunakaran (DADWO), District Differently Able Officer, was the chief guest. In his speech, he promised that he would provide Government funding to this school. Then our children performed cultural programs like dance, song, Thirukural, and a slideshow of the year’s events. Prizes were distributed for the winners, gifts were given to all the students. Amongst the huge crowd were parents of the children, G.L.M Members, benefactors, and the local community. The program ended with expressions of gratitude and the singing of the national anthem.
