Ho Chi Minh City – Fr. Soosai Rathinam, Provincial Superior, arrived in Vietnam for his canonical visit on June 20th. His presence was very uplifting for the students. An official community meeting was held and Fr. Soosai also spoke to each confrere in the community individually, encouraging them to be a witness of Christ in the present world. We had a wonderful time during his visit. He departed for the Philippines on June 26th.
Cuddalore – “How beautiful it is, when brothers live in unity and happiness”. To further increase community spirit and fellowship among the young scholastics at St. Joseph’s Seminary, the priests arranged a trip to Aarovil Beach, Pondicherry. This trip delighted the young brothers and gave them more space for fraternity. It helped them get to know each other better and relate more fervently in genuine family spirit.

Manila – On Tuesday March 19,2013, Bros. Joseph and Bob began a 4 day immersion experience with the Poor. The brothers stayed with their friends at Tahanang Puso (Heart Home) in Navotas. The charism of Tahanang Puso is that of compassion—they are sent to live with and befriend the poor. On the first day of the experience, the brothers visited children in the local Barangay—Br. Joseph played soccer with a group of children and Br. Bob played volleyball with another group.
On Wednesday the brothers visited poor families in the local area, and went into Manila to play games with street children. On Thursday, the whole group travelled from Navotas to Muntilupa City (about 3 hours each way) to spend a day in the New Bilibid Prison, visiting and bringing joy to the prisoners. On their final day, the brothers visited the world famous Smokey Mountain garbage area, and a few families that lived there. Unfortunately, one of the persons whom they went to visit had died just a few days before. The brothers comforted the children and prayed for the soul of the deceased. (Bro. Bob Neimeyer)
Mysore – ‘How beautiful it is when brothers live in unity.’ An inter-congregational sports meet brought joy and happiness to the Preethiya Sevakaru campus; Salesian and Guanellian families met each other and shared feelings, played party-games, danced, and held a singing competition along with a fantastic meal. Salesian brothers are in their postulancy and our Guanellian brothers are in their initial stage of formation. It was a great opportunity to build the relationship between the two families. As our founder said, “the separation from Don Bosco was the greatest agony that I underwent, more than the death of my father.”
