Joyful Celebrations at DGMS

Chennai  – On December 19, DGMS celebrated the synchronized mass in the evening. Our loving Provincial Superior, Fr. Soosai Rathinam who represents our Founder to us, presided over the Eucharist. His presence itself was a special grace to the community; making them feel the Founder’s presence through his presence, prayers and homily. The Guanellian Sisters joined the celebration, adding color to the event.
Later that day, DGMS celebrated Suppose Christmas. The creche was blessed and opened by Fr. Soosai. Christmas songs were sung to the new born child Jesus. A meal followed including sharing and a gift exchange. With priests, seminarians, and Guanellian sisters the community itself was like a creche on that day. Guanella Deepam 2014 on ‘Bond of Charity’ was released. It is the work of our confreres, fathers and brothers, who wrote articles for the publication. The Christmas season liturgy handout, which was prepared by our brothers, was also distributed.

Seminarians Give Christmas Blessings

Chennai – A special Christmas celebration was arranged by the DGMS community in Chengalpet. The blessed opportunity of celebrating Christmas with the children of the Juvenile Home was bestowed upon DGMS. The children were happy and a lot of prayers for the blessings the seminarians brought them. Their vulnerability was quite apparent. Catechism was taught to them, games were conducted for them, and food was served to them. A time to interact with them was given to know their feelings and find way for remedy. All together it was a different experience to our community.

The Ministry of Lector

Chennai – On the birthday of our founder the DGMS community added grace to our Congregation. Our eight second year theology students received the Ministry of Lector. Rev. Fr. Soosai Rathinam, Provincial Superior, celebrated the Rite of the Lector, during his homily he insisted how St. Guanella loved the Word and meditated it and made it his life. They too felt the responsibility of receiving the rite and assured their faithfulness to the Word of God first by reading it and followed by making it as the source of their life, May God bless them.

Joyfully Celebrating the Founder’s Feast

Chennai – To celebrate the Founder’s feast joyfully and meaningfully, a Triduum with different themes was planned with the assistance of the Special Children of Don Guanella Special School and the Evening School. The Guanellian family of DGMS, including Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, benefactors and good children, celebrated the Feast of St. Louis Guanella on 24th October. Fr. Provincial presided over the Holy Mass, preaching his homily on Good Children, the Master-pieces of God’s Creation. After Mass, the children were presented gifts and prizes. The latest issue of Guanellian Deepam, the private magazine of DGMS, was released. A festive meal and well wishes were shared by all who were present. With lots of smiles, the special children went home with joy and the blessings of St. Guanella, Father of Good Children.
