E. Providence – Each year the students of Sacred Heart School celebrate All Saints’ Day November 1st by dressing as a saint. The entire school attends Mass which is followed by a parade of the Saints. The main purpose for this activity is to help the students learn about the lives of the saints, the Church Triumphant, and the contributions that they made to the Kingdom of God on earth. The parents get involved too, because they are helping to create the costumes, therefore the Annual All Saints’ Parade is an event to enrich the lives of the extended Sacred Heart School Community.
E. Providence – In honor of St. Louis Guanella’s Centennial Birth into Heaven, Sacred Heart Parish offered Mass on October 24th with Bishop Tobin as the main celebrant. It was also a great occasion to honor Sr. Nancy McLennon, DSMP, on her 50th Jubilee of Consecrated Life.
To help the students of Sacred Heart School understand “giving bread and the Lord” in a real and practical way, Mass was offered for the Feast of St. Guanella and each student gave 50 cents, the cost of an item in the snack machine and later helped pack lunch bags that will be distributed at a local food pantry. They each participated with joy and learned that you are never to young to offer gifts to the needy.
E. Providence – Each Friday during Lent the children of Sacred Heart School prayed the Stations of the Cross. The children took turns reading the prayers as Fr. Silvio ‘walked’ the Stations. An eighth grade student, dressed as Jesus, carried the cross around the church in remembrance of Christ’s Way of the Cross.
