Guanellian Deepam ’17

Chennai – The DGMS community releases “Guanellian Deepam” each academic year and the theme this year is, “Guanella’s Spirituality and his Devotion”. Many confreres contributed to the booklet by writing articles, giving birth to the richness of our Founder’s Spiritual Devotedness and Maturation in Holiness. This year’s edition was released on February 11th, feast day of our Lady of Lourdes and the day seven seminarians professed perpetual vows to the Congregation. Fr. Soosai Rathinam, Provincial Superior, officially released the booklet and with his words of appreciation he insisted that the young confreres should excel in their intellectual and spiritual evangelization, drawing many modern souls to God.

Joyful Celebrations at DGMS

8 Christmas in DGMSChennai  – On December 19, DGMS celebrated the synchronized mass in the evening. Our loving Provincial Superior, Fr. Soosai Rathinam who represents our Founder to us, presided over the Eucharist. His presence itself was a special grace to the community; making them feel the Founder’s presence through his presence, prayers and homily. The Guanellian Sisters joined the celebration, adding color to the event.
Later that day, DGMS celebrated Suppose Christmas. The creche was blessed and opened by Fr. Soosai. Christmas songs were sung to the new born child Jesus. A meal followed including sharing and a gift exchange. With priests, seminarians, and Guanellian sisters the community itself was like a creche on that day. Guanella Deepam 2014 on ‘Bond of Charity’ was released. It is the work of our confreres, fathers and brothers, who wrote articles for the publication. The Christmas season liturgy handout, which was prepared by our brothers, was also distributed.

Indian seminarians in classChennai – The Divine Providence Province eagerly awaits the establishment of a Guanellian study center, a sequel to the main study center in Rome. The fourth year theology students were able to test it out during a one week Guanellian study course. Various writings and letters of St. Guanella were widely studied and discussed. Each brother was given a topic to analyze and present, the final draft of each presentation is available in the current issue of Guanella Deepam. To learn about St. Guanella and the roots of our congregation is like scattering Guanellian seeds capable of sprouting, growing and bearing fruits in the lives of young religious.
