‘Good Child’ Gone to Heaven

Sivagangai – Everyone knows that the month of November is dedicated to the departed souls, and we ask for special prayers for Sasikumar, who was born in 2005 in Vebani near Pallithammam. Sasi was born with intellectual disabilities. Sasi was not properly cared for by his family because they are poor and his parents had to work. Sasi came to live at St. Guanella Anbagam from 2013 until July 2014. Before coming to Anbagam, Sasi was kept in a cattle shed. His health improved as a result of his stay, but this progress was lost due to sickness and he passed away on November 1st. St. Guanella Anbagam lost a great gift (Sasi).
FIRST INTER-PILGRIMAGE OF PWIDS

Manila – “God has sent Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PWID) in your midst, in your life and in your community to be loved unconditionally. He entrusted this unique and noble task to no one except to you”. This was the simple yet stimulating message of His Eminence Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales addressed to the parents, relatives, guardians and friends of PWID at the First Inter-Pilgrimage of Persons with Intellectual Disability with Jesus and Mary on September 14th. The event was held at St. Francis De Sales Theological Seminary in Marawoy, Lipa City, Batangas. Guanella Home residents Raffy, Thomas and Tommy and three Guanellian Seminarians, Bro. Alfie, Bro. Gene and Bro. Hoang joined other groups for the event. A warm message by Cardinal Rosales welcomed everyone followed by a procession and short Marian Prayer. Before lunch, a one-hour talk entitled “Gifts of Persons with Intellectual Disability” and Workshop with the theme “Papa Jesus loves you” intended for PWIDs were simultaneously conducted. After lunch, activities resumed with the PWIDs entertained with action songs and games. The parents and friends as well as the Cardinal, priests and seminarians were mesmerized by the PWIDs as they conquered the dance floor with their moves; Raffy got the most applause from the crowd as he showcased his signature moves of back flipping and break dancing. The occasion ended with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by Cardinal Rosales.
