Kumbakonam – The pious Legion of Mary group held a special event in Santhanalpuram, one of the substations of Our Lady of Divine Providence Parish in Kumbakonam. During this meeting, they thanked the Lord for all His Blessings. They also held an hour of prayer followed by Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. A. John Bosco, SdC, the Parish Priest and Fr. M. Vincent, SdC, A.P.P. Fr. Bosco preached the homily and thanked them for their lively activities. They eventually honored the fathers and the heads of the village with a shawl and our parish priest also honored the group with a shawl, ending with refreshments.

Praying for the Forgotten Souls

Cuddalore  – On November 26th, the pious movement called “Legion of Mary” along with the Sagaya Matha parish priest visited the cemetery to pray for the deceased. Feast of Our Lady of Fatima

andhra mary processionAndhra – On May 13th, the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima was celebrated in a grand manner. An Our Lady of Fatima image was decorated with flowers and lights for a procession around the Church. The Legion of Mary led the whole congregation in offering special prayers through the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima. Fr. Bala Kiran celebrated Mass and Fr. Joseph Peter preached the homily; narrating the history of Our Lady of Fatima. People who have great devotion to Mother Mary offered special prayers for peace in the whole world.

Indian women pray RosaryCuddalore – Every first Saturday of month, Sagaya Matha Parish celebrates mass in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Grotto. On November 2nd, a big Rosary from Italy was used by the Legion of Mary to recite the Holy Rosary at the Grotto before Holy mass, which was offered for the deceased family members of the parishioners and for the deceased confreres of the Servants of Charity.

Priest offers prayers in villagers' homesVatluru – Fr. Moses and Fr. Vijay Anand, Redemptorist priests from Tenali, were invited to Sacred Heart Parish for a 5 day mission of house counseling and preaching. They visited every home in the village, praying and counseling the families; accompanied by the Legion of Mary. In the evenings they preached the word of God and celebrated the holy Mass. Also during the Month of October, which is especially dedicated to praying the Rosary, the faithful in the parish showed their devotion to our Blessed Mother. According to tradition, a ‘one day one house’ prayer meeting was arranged. The members of the Legion of Mary carried the statue of Mother Mary to each house; praying the Rosary devotedly, sharing the word of God, and receiving the prayers and blessings from the priests.

Visit to ‘Sishu Bhavan’

Vatluru – The members of the Legion of Mary and other pious groups of the Sacred Heart Parish visited Mother Teresa Sishu Bhavan, a home for mentally and physically challenged children near Eluru. The gifts received in remembrance of Rev. Fr. Thanasekar were given to the children as a token of love. The parish girls prepared a dance and songs for the children to express their fraternal love. Fr. Peter Sebastian, the Superior, distributed the gifts to the good children and Fr. Peter Joseph concluded the program by praying for them.

Legion of Mary gather in India for marian devotionsCuddalore – On Sunday, October 28th the Legion of Mary from Sahaya Matha Parish joined Legion of Mary groups from neighboring parishes at Don Guanella Boys Home to celebrate their Annual Day Event. There were more than 50 participants and many of them publicly shared their devotion to Mother Mary. Fr. Bernandes and Fr. S. Periyanayaga Samy animated the event spiritually and offered Marian meditations to those present. It was a great way to strengthen piety and devotion to Mary.
