Vatluru – Having approached the end of the Year of Faith, a three-day prayer meeting was arranged in Ankangudem, one of the substations of Sacred Heart Parish. Fr. Joseph Peter, the parish priest, and the village catechist arranged the meetings; held each evening October 15-17th. Around 200 people participated listening to the word of God and faithfully partaking in the Eucharistic celebration. Catechists from different villages preached the Word of God first followed by Holy Mass each day. It was a renewal of faith for the people of Ankangudem.
Vatluru – The feast of Our Lady of Velankanni was celebrated in a grand manner in the village of Koppaka on September 8th, the birthday of the Blessed Mother. As a spiritual preparation for the feast, a charismatic prayer service and the sacrament of reconciliation were offered beforehand and the faithful partook in them faithfully. A large number gathered to honor Mother Mary on the Feast beginning with a procession in the morning and followed by Mass celebrated by Fr. Shantham. Fr. Peter Sebastian, local superior, and other confreres joined the celebration. After Mass the fathers and local political leaders were honored. A festive meal was shared by more than 2000 people.
Vatluru – Jesus Jubilee Tower Feast is an occasion for the entire parish family and the local community to participate. In preparation for the feast, a Charismatic prayer service was held February 24th to 26th. Fr. John Kalicherry and his team from Mangalagri, near Guntur, led people into a powerful Pentecostal experience including a healing service for the faithful, many of whom were healed by him through the Holy Spirit. On the 27th a great celebration was held in which Most Rev. Dr. Prakash Mallavarapu, Archbishop of Visakhapatnam and Apostolic Administrator of Eluru, celebrated the Holy Eucharist with a college of priests. Many faithful gathered for the community meal service, in which more than 5000 people participated. In the evening there was a car procession around the village and everyone gathered to praise the Lord and honor our mother Mary.
