Way of the Cross

Manila – The Way of the Cross this year was a bit different than past years. For this year, they related the events to modern daily life circumstances so that the people could understand more genuinely what Christ’s Passion means for each of us. On April 12th, the way of the cross was held in the different areas of the servants of charity compound. The event was presented by the Guanellian Youth Ministry (GYM), Guanellian Altar Servers’ Guild, Guanellian Oratorio Ministry, some from the Guanellian Lectors and Commentators and the seminarians. Though not trained actors, they effectively portrayed the beauty of Christ’s sacrifice. The goal of the presentation was achieved, and the audience deeply understood the Lord’s loving sacrifice for us. Fr. Charlton Viray congratulated everyone who participated and those who exerted efforts that made the event a successful one.

‘Way of the Cross’

Kumbakonam – “Lent is a time to experience God’s Mercy and a time to extend God’s Mercy to others,” said Pope Francis. During the Lenten season, the Stations of the Cross were animated in substations of Guanella Nagar Parish: Thirupurampiam, Swamimalai, Asoor, Jabamalipuram Chinnamalkallari and Perumpandi. The Precious Blood Fathers were invited to participate in this Holy event. Holy Mass was celebrated after Stations. The people were taken up by the inspiring thoughts, “This is a season of grace all over the world and Lent is a time to renew our relationship with God and neighbor”. Fr. A. John Bosco, the parish priest, thanked him and urged the people to make a good confession during Lent. The liturgy was animated by Fr. Vincent, Bro. Kalaikovan, Srs. Christy and Julie. Parish groups such as Legion of Mary, Guanellian Lay Movement, Parish Council Members, and the parishioners also attended. Tea and snacks were served.

New Stations of the Cross

Vatluru -On June 23rd, we inaugurated the Stations of the Cross at Sacred Heart Church. Our Beloved Bishop, Most Rev. Jayarao Polimera, blessed the Stations of the Cross and planted a tree. Holy Mass followed with many priests participating. During Mass the Bishop confirmed 28 children and also gave them first holy communion. A fellowship meal was shared by all during which the Bishop and all who generously donated money and materials for the project were thanked. We thank all our confreres who encouraged and collaborated spiritually for the development of the Good Samaritan parish. For the further development of the parish we introduced the family card system to register their personal information with the parish.

Way to Calvary

Touching ChristGrass Lake – After collecting costumes over the past few years and honing the script, Sr. Brenda McHugh presented the ‘Live’ stations of the Cross at the Shrine of St. Joseph on Good Friday. Several families rallied together to play the roles and make final preparations for this moving event. The stations were prayed as an outdoor procession from the Shrine steps out to the Cross at the Calvary. A large crowd of the faithful joined the Way of the Cross as part of their Good Friday devotions.

Experiencing the Stations

E. Providence – Each year on Fridays during Lent, the students of Sacred Heart School pray the Stations of the Cross. Eighth graders portray Jesus and Simon of Cyrene as they follow Fr. Silvio around the church to each Station as it is prayed. All of the other students follow along in prayer books throughout the devotion. It is a simple way to draw the children more fully into the Passion and Death of our Lord Jesus Christ.Stations 3 Stations 2 Stations 1
